HEART TO HEART
Heart to Heart is a program that supports charities and organizations with a focus on cardiovascular disease. Our mission is to raise awareness in teens and young adults who suffer from heart related ailments that often go undetected until it’s too late. With the proper knowledge and minimal lifestyle changes families can spare themselves from the pain of losing a child to a silent killer. Everyone deserves to have a healthy heart, sharing yours makes a difference.
Vision:
Heart to Heart was started by the Jason Thompson Foundation to honor the memory of Tiffany Carroll-- a beloved family member and Jason’s first cousin. At just 25 years old, a seemingly healthy and active young adult lost her life from a disease known as Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM). HCM is most well known as a leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young athletes. The disease is frequently asymptomatic until sudden cardiac death, for this reason, it is important that all young athletes receive the proper tests and screenings that can detect HCM early on. The Jason Thompson Foundation plans to work with organizations, health care professionals and research facilities that specialize in cardiac research and heart disease. By raising awareness in schools with athletic programs and assuring that all student athletes are screened for HCM as part of the athletic curriculum.
